Week of June 12th

The film festival was pretty interesting. There was some really good films presented. I was kinda relieved to see that our film was not there because our film does not compare to the other student's films.

May 28th?

Our film production planned to go film at the Hollywood streets. But I do not think we will proceed with this idea because it is too elaborate and we do not have enough resources for it to look professional.

Week of June 5

Our Film production has planned to make our final project. We will be filming a PSA on the drought that California is experiencing. We will be meeting at Areli's house.

Week of May 22nd

Our production company has completed our script. We will be filming this week perhaps.

Week of May 18th?

My film group attended the LACLA Film Festival because our film was chosen to be in it. The representatives of LACLA surprised us with a stipend of $25, in which our crew is planning to go out and spend it on food. The animated films in the festival were really cute<3 lol

Week of May 1st

This week our film production did not accomplish a lot . We need to come up with a new film idea because our previous idea is a hard to get done in a week. I was thinking of a PSA but I have yet to share the idea with my team.

Week of April 24th

This week my production company was able to complete our film. We are on the process of starting a new film. We are still debating between a mockumentary or a narrative.

Week of April 17th

This week our production company got a lot more done than any other week. We still need more shots for our film to be complete. We were unable to film because of of our crew member had the variety show practice, but now since the show is over, we still have a couple of days left for the remaining shots.

Week of April 3rd.

This week my group was successful in revising our screenplay. We commenced recording our first scene.  We have yet to establish our schedules; it will not be a problem since we all have pretty flexible schedules. My whole production company will be acting in the film, so it is necessary that we all participate.

Week of March

Jose, Monica, and Areli are part of my production company this semester. My production company has still yet to decide what our name will be. I think that's the hardest part by far because we all have to unanimously agree on a name. We are certain on what film genre we are doing; we are doing a narrative film. Last week, we managed to complete our screenplay. This week, our goal will be to complete our storyboard and possibly start filming on  the weekend.

Music

I enjoy listening to music because I feel that it is a way that I can express how I feel without having to say anything. I appreciate the hard work that the artists or bands have put into the lyrics and all. One of my favorite bands is The Smiths. Whenever I hear their songs, I feel like I am listening to a rhythmical poetry. "Asleep" is one of my favorite songs from them. It sounds like an effortless song, but it captivated my heart once I heard the lyrics. The lyrics sound suicidal but I find comfort in them. It keeps my hope that "there is a better world". On the contrary of the depressing tone of "Asleep", I also really love their song "There is a Light That Never Goes Out". This song makes me feel alive, just like the song says. I have also heard that same song but in Spanish, "Hay Una Luz Que Nunca Se Apagara" that song has the same melody and rhythm but slightly different lyrics.

Troubles & Struggles

I find it troublesome expressing how I feel. I do not like talking to anyone about my feelings because I feel vulnerable if I do. I would rather keep everything to myself. I do not bother telling anyone about my troubles because I feel that no one would care anyway. If I feel the need to express my feelings I often write in a journal that I keep. Sometimes even writing how I feel can be difficult. 

I have seen the many struggles that Bell High students  face. At school, we may see that students are unbothered and don't have any problems at home. We do not get the opportunity to see what is actually happening in their lives. Some students have to start working at an early age because their families need that extra income. There's the struggle to be able to afford college. There's also the struggle of having only one parent.

Most Interesting Person

The most interesting person I know is a friend of my mom. Her name is Gloria, and her name alone is pretty interesting. Her name means glory in Spanish. I have heard so many personal experiences from her. She is 56 years old and a cancer survivor. She has told me about how she kept her faith in God throughout the whole chemotherapy. She has been a believer since the age of sixteen, but with the cancer situation her faith in God has since grown deeper. She could go hours with telling me her stories, and I could just listen and not talk at all. Her stories about the places she visits catch my attention. I have learned so much from her. I know that I am not the only one captivated by her life story. I have also seen when she talks to other people, no matter what age, are intrigued by the way she tells her story.  She has such a beautiful soul.

Anti-Drug

Whenever I feel stressed I escape to the world of arts and crafts. I like to create Do-It-Youself projects. I usually search youtube videos and get inspiration from there. It brings me satisfaction knowing that I made something on my own without having to buy it from the store. It is also something original and unique, in which store bought items lack. Sewing my own clothes, or other things, is also a way that helps me clarify my mind when I feel stressed. Although some may say that sewing is actually a lot of work and requires precise measurements, I find myself content with the results.

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth was interesting all the way through. The film presented a lot of astonishing facts. Since the film was made in 2006-7 I know a lot has changed. At the ending of the film, in it's credits, it suggested various ways that we could help save the environment. It suggested we ride bicycles if we are traveling short distances, we should recycle, we should use renewable energy sources. I would like an updated film to see how much has changed. This film reminded me of a community-based program that I am involved in. The program is called Communities for a Better Environment and one of our main focus is to fight for environmental justice. I have actually witnessed how much global warming has affected the earth. I had a trip, with CBE folks, to Mono Lake. I went during the winter. The mountains were not covered with snow. I saw how much the lakes had dried up. One lake was completely dried up, and it was alarming.
