Beginning, Middle, End

A movie that has a good beginning, middle, and end is Apocalypto. The beginning of the movie already starts intense. Jaguar Paw and his family are captured. He has to protect his family from the dangers of incoming raiders. The raiders capture Jaguar Paw’s father, Flint Sky, and kill him. Jaguar Paw’s wife , Seven, whom is really pregnant, and his son , Turtle Run escape but are trapped in a deep vertical cave.
In every scene the direct has the audience on its feet. The middle of the movie occurs when Jaguar Paw is promised his freedom if he escapes the court.  Jaguar Paw manages to escape but he is injured in the process. The guys that captured Jaguar Paw go after him. Jaguar Paw has the advantage at this point because he goes back to his old village in search of his family.
At the ending of the movie, Jaguar reunites with his family. His wife has given birth to their newborn son. There are conquistador ships coming. Seven wants to greet them but Jaguar Paw is hesitant and tells them that they should go back to the forest and start a new life.

Undeserved Misfortune

A film that shows underserved misfortune is The Princess and the Frog. Tiana kisses the frog that was turned into a frog in order to help him turn back to human. But since she is not a real princess, she turns into a frog instead.
Another film that shows undeserved misfortune is Bajo La Misma Luna. The main character’s grandmother dies and his economic status forces him to cross the U.S border. He has a long suffering journey in the United States.
This undeserved misfortune is an idea for a film because the screenwriter could script the movie about someone whose intention is to help someone else but instead they are hurt in the process.

An undeserved misfortune that can occur in real life is that someone might lose all their belongings or family members because of an event that they cannot control.  An undeserved misfortune helps the audience feel compassionate towards the main character.

Film Job

I would like to have the job of a Producer. I would be fit for the job because I am organized and neat. I would make sure that all the team members are meeting for shooting. I would be responsible for making sure that the team has all the necessary equipment.

Conflict

Conflict in The Perks of Being a Wallflower is that Charlie, the main character, is suicidal and has bad memories from when he was a child.  His childhood haunts him even in his teenage years.
Charlie does what he feels the person would like him to do. He does not do what he knows is right. For example, when Patrick is sad that Brad broke up with him, Patrick kissed Charlie to ease his pain. Charlie allowed Patrick to kiss him because he wanted to be a good friend. But Charlie was actually hurting Patrick because he was not being honest.
Charlie later dates a friend from his group, Mary Elizabeth. He does not really like her but he does not break up with her because he does not want to hurt her feelings. Conflict is presented in this scene because of Charlie’s lack of understanding of communication. He does not communicate well with Mary Elizabeth therefore it is obvious that their relationship will not flourish.

Review of The Elephant Man

When we first started watching the movie I was not interested at all. I thought the movie was boring and long. But as time passed by, we, as a class, started dissecting the movie. There were parts of the movie that I had failed to see. I am fascinated by how much detail there is in the movie. How they used the perfect sound for the image presented was very interesting to see.
When the elephant man was being ridicule by the night porter, I was angered. It was sickening to think that the real John Merrick had actually gone through that and probably much worse.

I liked how at the end of the movie, we went back and saw the beginning of the movie.
I had not seen how John Merrick’s mother was sexually assaulted.
Overall, I enjoyed watching the movie. I will someday watch the movie in one run; not like how we saw part by part in class. If I do that, I think I will enjoy it much more.

My Name is John Merrick.

I am very fortunate to have people that care about me look after me. Today Bates locked me up in a cage. I was very scared because I did not do anything wrong.  I am tired of being treated like I am an animal. Wish he could understand that I am human and I need to be loved, just like everyone else does.  I miss my home in London. Luckily, my friends helped me escape that cruel place. I’m on my way to London now. I cannot wait to see Doctor Treves again. I really enjoy his company.

It is my second day back. I am really happy that my friends back in France liberated me.
I hope that I’m able to finish my project of the cathedral. I think once I am finished with it my soul cold rest at peace. I wish my mother was still here so she would be able to see what I have

Welcome to My Nightmare lol

One nightmare I remembering having is that I was drowning. I was in the middle of a big lake. When I looked down, I saw a black bottomless pit.  I was so terrified because I did not know what inhabit that dark place. Also the fact that it was stormy that day did not help ease the fear I felt.  Its strange that I even remember feeling cold.
So I gave up on trying to stay afloat.  I just let the icy cold water fill my lungs.  Soon afterwards I woke up shivering. It was probably four in the morning.

I couldn’t go back to sleep. Just remembering the deep black body of water made me shiver. I am terrified of dark unknown places. I am scared because I do not know what could be hidden behind the dark shadows. I do not know if I will ever get rid of this fear.

Compassionate Science

What takes to be a compassionate scientist is to be dedicated to what you are doing. You have to have heart to what you are dedicating your life to. A compassionate scientist would work even if they did not get paid.  A compassionate scientist loves their work and not what they are being paid. I would be a compassionate helper to a scientist, but not actually be a scientist. I do not think I have the skills that require being a scientist. I am not strongly skilled in math or in science. But I do love helping others. I would dedicate my life to a great cause. It is better to help others, rather than yourself. Mike Ebeling is an inspiring man. Not many people are as compassionate as he is. A lot of people all talk about wanting to help but do not actually work toward helping.  The video shown to us was very touching.

The Future

I don't think the future will exists. Nothing lasts forever, so the world won't last long. The world is going to be overpopulated. There won't be any more food supplies for people. There won't be any water supply either. The earth will perish. The earth is giving its last remaining fruit. The only hope that people would have is to relocate to another planet. And if people do move to another planet, they will be forced to genetically create food.
Once the last remaining humans relocate to another place, then history will be gone. It will be the beginning of a new era. The human race will have the chance to start fresh.

A Time I Laughed a lot.

I have way too many memories of when I  laughed really hard. One that I remember recently at my little cousin's birthday party. We were singing Happy Birthday to my little cousin, and it was time for him to eat a piece of cake. We didn't expect him to push his face into the cake. He shoved his face into the cake. Normally, someone else pushes your face in the cake, but he did it himself. Everyone was shocked because it was random and unexpected. We all started laughing. I think I was the one laughing the most because I was the only one in the ground clenching my stomach. Its one of those moments where you have to be there to actually think it is funny.

My Review of Modern Times

Modern Times is the first movie I have seen of Charlie Chaplin. It was an interesting movie. I knew nothing about Charlie Chaplin. But watching the film made me realize that he was a genius. All the symbols he used in Modern Times. He predicted television. He knew of the suffering the country was going through. He made people feel that they had hope. His message at the end, to keep a smile.. better things are yet to come. He made his movie be relatable to what was occurring. I enjoyed watching Modern Times.

My Thoughts on Bullying

I have never experienced bullying. Also I have never witnessed bullying. But if I were to see someone getting bullied, I would step up. I don’t think the school can completely stop bullying. It is inevitable. There can be certain things someone getting bullied can do. They could report that they are being bullied.  They can try to amend misunderstandings. But bullying will always remain. It is the harsh truth.
Bullying cannot be prevented either. People are cruel and can say cruel things.
What is common now is cyber-bullying. It is easy to make a fake profile and attack someone else using that profile. They can spread untrue rumors. The only way to prevent that is keeping your profile private so only known people can contact you

My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Everything about the movie was perfect. The casts were just how I imagined them when I read the book. Logan Lerman acted Charlie's role perfectly. Emma Watson was perfect acting Sam's role. The best thing of all was when the song Asleep by The Smiths came out. The author had also mentioned that song in the book. When I heard it in the movie I got emotional. It is one of my favorite songs by my favorite band. I connected with the movie as well. I was a freshman at the time the film came out.
